Our Business Case
By just clicking on the Tourism Economic Impact link below, anyone could easily make a business case for facilities and services to be more accessible for persons with disabilities. But, I would like to share a short true story that makes our business case.

In February of 2000, I took a trip to DisneyWorld with six other family members. I use a powered wheelchair for mobility. As I planned for this trip, I obviously needed to look for accessible lodging, restaurants, transportation and so on. As you can already see, wherever we went as a group, we went as a group that spent the money of seven people. Everywhere we went I needed to find a facility or service that would meet my needs. I found a condominium for all of us that was wheelchair accessible, especially the bathroom. We rented a van for the week that was equipped with a wheelchair lift. We dined at approximately 12 restaurants, all of which met my needs.

From this story you can see that by meeting the needs of persons with disabilities there is a greater gain in businesses customer base than just the 20% of our population that have a disability. You will be attracting persons with disabilities plus all their friends and family members that travel with them.
